Summer Plans for Class of 2011

Wow!  Its summer already and many seniors are taking it easy this summer, but there is no rest for the weary.  Seniors should be working on college essays, resumes, and collecting letters of recommendations from community members.  They should also be working on narrowing down their choice of college by visiting campuses and researching the schools using online tools such as Naviance and My Road.  Doing prep work during the summer will give seniors a leg up on the competition for scholarship money and for admissions into competitive universities.  We had a student that graduated in May, she got into her first choice only because of her prep work over the summer.  She visited the university, got contact information, and continued to talk with them about what it would take to be admitted.  Not only did she get admitted, but she also got a large scholarship. I encourage all our seniors to work on these things over the summer so that they can also get their first choice of college and get scholarship money.
